January was an excting time for us. We welcomed in a new year, studied about MLK and Jackie Robinson, celebrated the 100th day of school, and even made it through a few duck-n-covers before Severe Weather Awareness Week. Cosmic Bowling Please make plans to be at Dowell on January 24 for our annual Cosmic Bowling night! There will be food, fun, and of course bowling in the dark! All proceeds will go towards Dowell’s Relay for Life team, so it’s for a good cause too! Information (such as reservations to bowl) went homew in your child's Thursday Folder! Happy 2013!!! Welcome to the new year! I hope that everyone has enjoyed the holiday break, whether you have been busy with festivities or family & friends. I hope that you all have taken time to rest, relaxe, and reflect. Although I am sad that the break is over, I am excited to return to the students and see how much they have grown over the break. We have a lot to cover in the second half of this year. As I have told the students, a school year is like riding a bike up a hill. The furst half of the year is a LOT of hard work as we learn and climb the hill. When we reach the top, that is the winter break. When we come back from the break to finish the year, we are on our way down the hill. And like riding a bicycle down a hill it goes very fast. So, buckle your seatbelts and hang on tight because this half of the year is going to go by fast!! We might be returning from the holiday break but before we know it, we will be having Spring Break and then preparing for the summer! So enjoy these last few days with your loved ones! Remember, Monday, January 7, 2013 is a Teacher Workday. I will see the students and their smiling faces back on Tuesday, January 8th!!!
